Easter Fair a Huge Success

Our Easter Fair last Saturday has been declared a huge success, after raising over £1000 towards the Christmas lights. Sherry and Mary organised the fair, which included a huge Bric-a-Brac stall, a book stall, a cake stall, a Tombola and a raffle. Other Clevedon traders joined in, with the Veg Box, First Choice Travel, Morrisons and Lucy from Present Company making significant contributions towards both the success of the day and the Clevedon Pride coffers. Julie oganised some great entertainment from The Dance Factory, Lipgloss and a great young singer called Florence, which drew people into the square and also proved that the space can be used for many purposes. Many congratulations to Sherry and Mary. Let’s make this an annual event!

Pond filled in

Clevedon Pride has achieved another big success in the square today. The much maligned and vandalised water feature is, as I write, being filled in and landscaped. Clevedon Pride, along with Cllr Linda Knott has been lobbying the feature’s owners, DTZ, for a number of months to either maintain or change the use of the water feature after it was identified as a major issue in the survey of public opinion that we carried out in the autumn of 2008. It is understood that this work will be finished in time for our Easter Fair on Saturday. Pictures of both the work and finished feature will follow. See you on Saturday!

Easter Fair

Clevedon Pride will be holding an Easter Fair in Queen’s Square on Saturday 11th April from 10am til 4pm to raise funds for Clevedon Pride’s projects which are currently Clevedon in Bloom and Christmas Lights. This will be the first of a number of fund-raising and awareness- raising events and we hope the whole town will be involved.

Clevedon Pride made a great start with the Christmas lights last year and we hope to be bigger and better this year. We are currently in negotiations with the council about expanding the lights throughout the rest of the Triangle area, Old Street and Old Church Road.We are also working on creating a summer flower display with new planters which should be the first step towards entering Clevedon in Bloom.

At the Easter Fair there will be a number of stalls, Easter related events, musical and dance entertainment and refreshments.

There are different ways in which you may like to be involved. You might like to have a stall yourself or you may be able to contribute something towards the day for the tombola or raffle; whatever it is – we would be extremely grateful. You may have another idea which could be included – in which case we would be glad to hear from you. We also need people to come and run the stalls for two hour periods at a time. We need people to collect on the day and generally help with setting up and tidying up at the end of the day. Can you help?

Please contact us and let us know how you would like to be involved or if you have something you can offer the tombola or raffle.
